Researchers say the popular video streaming app 'VidMate' is subjecting its user base of over five hundred million individuals worldwide to several forms of suspicious activity.

According to findings by security researchers at a London-based mobile technology firm called Upstream, VidMate has been engaging in various shady practices that could potentially be draining users’ phone batteries, exposing their personal information and costing them money.

Some examples given include:

1) Displaying hidden ads on user devices without their knowledge or consent.

2) Secretly subscribing people to paid services without their explicit approval.

Vidmate's popularity can largely be attributed to its functionality of allowing users in developing nations like India where internet access may not always be readily available and affordable.

In a bid to counter these allegations, VidMate has released an official statement through one of its representatives who claims that the app does not knowingly engage in such activities.

The representative further added that they are currently investigating all claims made against them by Upstream researchers.

It is worth noting here that while convenience may be at the core reason behind millions installing this particular video streaming application; there appears to be a price tag attached - one which users might not even realize until it's too late!
